MacKillop farewells Class of 2013 (19 November 2013)
Year 12 celebrated its Farewell Assembly this morning at the Isabella Campus.
The Class of 2013 gathered in the Isabella Gymnasium for breakfast with teachers and support staff before the venue was turned into an assembly hall for the cohort to celebrate their last day at MacKillop.
Students will return this week to complete their final exams and will then celebrate their Graduation Mass and Formal on Friday 6 December.
This year group will always have a special place in MacKillopís heart. We wish each and every student the very best as they go on to further study, trades, the workforce, and the wider world.
MacKillop's first Senator (18 November 2013)
Congratulations to past student Zed Seselja who has secured his seat as a Liberal Senator following Septembers Federal Election.
Zed has been a frequent visitor to MacKillop and a splendid supporter of increased Commonwealth and Territory funding for all schools including the non-government sector. We wish him all the best in representing the very real needs of the ACT in the Australian Senate and the Government to which he belongs.
MacKillop's a recycling school! (18 November 2013)
Congratulations to Sustainability Coordinator Eugene Lehmensich who has successfully applied for a grant from Keep Australia Beautiful to set up recycling facilities and train a team of students to educate both staff and students about correct recycling practices.
Recycling bins will be put out across both campuses to help make a difference to the ecological footprint of our College. The program will start at the end of Term 4 at Wanniassa and from 2014 at the Isabella Campus.
The College celebrates MacKillop Day (16 September 2013)
St Mary MacKillop College celebrated MacKillop Day last Friday, with both campuses joining together for Mass and a day of activities.
Monsignor John Woods celebrated the Mass at the Tuggeranong Basketball Stadium - one of the few local venues capable of holding the whole school - before students enjoyed a host of fete-like activities at the Isabella Plains Campus.
The College holds MacKillop Day each year to honour the Feast Day of St Mary MacKillop. While her Feast Day is actually in August, the College traditionally celebrates in September when the weather is warmer and the AST has concluded.
As hoped, the rain held off and we were blessed with a beautiful Spring day - helping make MacKillop Day an enjoyable community experience once again!
MacKillop's Mulan a truly magical musical (26 August 2013)
Congratulations to the cast and crew of Mulan, who put on a string of breathtaking performances at the Wanniassa Campus Theatrette last week.
Two of the three nights were completely sold out - rewarding all involved for their many months of hard work.
Led by a staff production team of Tony Lazzarato, Gabriela Hunter, Sharyn Quirk, Naomi Aigner, Sandhya Tulpule, and Kath Piper, staff and students worked together to deliver a polished and entertaining final product.
Congratulations to many, many people who helped to make it such a great success!
