Principal's Welcome
Welcome to St Mary MacKillop College Canberra in 2014!
Welcome to our College Website. It belongs to Canberra’s largest secondary school, welcoming the children of families from Canberra’s Tuggeranong Valley, Woden, Weston Creek, Queanbeyan, and Jerrabomberra.

It is my pleasure to welcome the College to the 2014 Academic Year. Rested from a warm summer break I am happy to say that our teaching and support staff will have a number of new colleagues joining them, with hundreds of new students also joining the College this year.

Last year ended well, with solid Year 12 Certificate results – almost all of our students wishing to go to university gained entry.

Along with these results, many students have gone on to CIT and apprenticeship, most of them benefiting from industry experience and study at the College’s Trades Training Centre.

These kinds of results for a non-selective, low fee charging, big school are the product of:
  1. An excellent culture conducive to achievement
  2. An outstanding staff
  3. Students who are goal oriented, motivated, who have good life balance, and who have respectful relationships with their teachers
  4. The academic support provided to the students by the College and parents
  5. Co-education
The achievements of students in the varied areas of school life bring joy, pride, and encouragement to us all. St Mary MacKillop College draws its strength from the excellence of its teachers, the energy and diverse talents of its students, and a profound relationship of trust between the school and our families.

St Mary MacKillop College takes its foundation, ethos, and inspiration from our patron St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, canonised as Australia’s first saint in 2010. As such, we aim to be a Catholic school for all, respectful of difference, welcoming of all who seek to add to our community, and a school that is able to have all different kinds of people, ideas, talents, and interests fostered by our care.

This school is a place of spirit, energy, expectation, hope, and considerable good humour. I hope you enjoy browsing our website and welcome your interest in our school.

As always, Canberra's largest school is ambitious for a year of challenge and achievement.

Let’s go!

Yours in St Mary MacKillop,

Mr Michael Lee
College Principal

Michael Lee, Finalist for Australian Principal of the Year 2011.
