Student Leadership

CareersWeb2

Formal leadership opportunities exist for students from Years 7 to 12 on the Student Representative Council. Students participate in the leadership of the College, Campus, specific portfolios, or one of the four Houses.

They represent the College in the community, lead fundraising activities, bring student matters to the College Executive, and help to organise and run College events.

The SRC oversees our outreach program that fundraises for local and national charities, particularly Caritas (Project Compassion), the St Vincent de Paul Society, and the four House Charities, which are decided each year.

The Portfolio Captains help staff at the College to look after specific areas of interest (Faith & Community, Sport, Performing Arts, Sustainability, and Communications & Connections).

Members of the SRC are elected by students in their year group and their teachers, with elections held at the end of Term 3  (College and Portfolio Captains), throughout Term 4 (Campus, House, Years 8 and 10) and at the beginning of the school year (Years 7 and 11).

While students are able to hold a formal leadership role through the SRC, all students at MacKillop are encouraged to be leaders and there are several clubs and committees students can lead or join.

Acknowledgement of Country

St Mary of the Cross MacKillop made the statement: “We are but travellers here, so while we are here we should do as much good as we can and live in peace with each other.”

With this in mind, the College respectfully acknowledges the Ngunnawal people who are the Traditional Custodians and First People of the land on which we gather each day. The College also pays its respects to the Elders past, present and emerging, and any other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples living and working in the MacKillop community.
