Vale Maria Philpot
1935-2025
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Maria Philpot, who entered eternal life on Monday, 21 July.
Maria was the second person ever employed by the College, beginning her service at what was then Padua Catholic High School in 1978. Over the years, across both Padua and MacKillop, she held nearly every clerical role, most recently serving in Student Reception. A woman of dignity and strength, Maria played a seminal role in the foundation and growth of Padua, the amalgamation with St Peter’s, and the early years of MacKillop. Her remarkable dedication continued until her retirement from the College in 2012, marking 34 years of loyal and devoted service.
Maria touched the lives of thousands within our community and will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
The funeral for Maria will be held on Wednesday, 30 July from 11:00am at St Anthony’s Parish, Wanniassa.
May she rest in peace.

St Mary of the Cross MacKillop made the statement: “We are but travellers here, so while we are here we should do as much good as we can and live in peace with each other.”
With this in mind, the College respectfully acknowledges the Ngunnawal people who are the Traditional Custodians and First People of the land on which we gather each day. The College also pays its respects to the Elders past, present and emerging, and any other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples living and working in the MacKillop community.
