Year 12 out to set new Relay record

Cancer Council's Relay for Life

Year 12 students have commenced their fundraising efforts for Cancer Council’s Relay for Life with more than $2000 raised on the opening day.

This year’s Graduating Class have set themselves an ambitious goal of $60,000 after the Class of 2021 managed to raise a new College record of $58,591 last year.

MacKillop will participate in the Relay Your Way version of the Relay, with planning underway to hold a COVID-safe event that will abide by the ACT Government’s COVID restrictions for schools.

This morning, College Captains Rohan McDonough and Maddie Arnold joined Principal Michael Lee and Cancer Council’s Alison Hall to speak with WIN News about their Relay efforts.

“This is a worthy cause and we want as many students in our year group to get around it as possible,” Rohan and Maddie said.

“We all know people who have been affected by cancer. While we want to raise as much money as we can, it’s not about setting a new record – it’s about supporting those in our community whose lives have been impacted by this disease.”
