The MacKillop A Cappella group has progressed to the Live Finals of the AUSACA Australian A Cappella Championships, which will be held in Melbourne in September.
After the Video Finals stage of the competition, judges and voters deemed the choir worthy of a place in the Secondary School Division finals for their rendition of the Irish Blessing.
On 15 September, members of the choir will travel to RMIT University, where they will perform in a live semi-final for the right to take part in the National Final later that night.
The choir, led by Mrs Kim Maloney, will perform a number of songs as they aim to become national a cappella champions.
The championships will be held as part of Vocal Australia’s GET VOCAL Festival, which will feature a variety of events including performances, competitions, master classes, professional development, and workshops.
Congratulations to the A Cappella choir and thank you to all who voted to help them get through to the next stage of the competition. We wish them the best of luck!

St Mary of the Cross MacKillop made the statement: “We are but travellers here, so while we are here we should do as much good as we can and live in peace with each other.”
With this in mind, the College respectfully acknowledges the Ngunnawal people who are the Traditional Custodians and First People of the land on which we gather each day. The College also pays its respects to the Elders past, present and emerging, and any other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples living and working in the MacKillop community.
