$80,000 raised in the Relay for Life
Congratulations to the Class of 2026 who managed to reach their target of raising over $80,000 in Cancer Council ACT's Relay for Life.
The students of Year 12 participated in the ‘Relay Your Way’ version of the event, which saw them complete laps of the St Peter’s Campus oval for 12 hours on Saturday 28 March.
The amount raised was the second-highest in MacKillop’s history and currently has the Class of 2026 sitting at the top of the fundraising charts for the whole of Australia.
While the total was sitting just short of the $80,000 target at the conclusion of the relay, cash and EFTPOS donations rolled in from various activities across the weekend to help Year 12 cross the line.
Among the personal highlights were the efforts of Year 12 student Annelise Schirripa, who raised $3,326 and finished the event as the fourth-highest individual fundraiser in Canberra. Including Annelise, seven students and one staff member managed to raise over $1,000.
In the relay itself, there were some massive achievements by some very keen students, with several completing the distance of a marathon and Grace Evans reaching 62km over the course of the day.
The College would like to thank everyone who made this achievement possible, including those who donated, the staff at Cancer Council ACT, teachers who supervised, and, of course, the students of Year 12.
The total now sits at $80,738.
Donations are still being accepted:
