Year 12 Results 2023

Congratulations, Year 12!

The College would like to congratulate the Class of 2023 on their fantastic Year 12 results, which were released on Tuesday 12 December.

The entire Graduating Class met the requirements to receive an ACT Senior Secondary Certificate, while students also performed strongly in their pursuit of ATARs and Vocational Certificates.

The College Dux, Ari Gilchrist, achieved an ATAR of 99.65, while 38 students achieved an ATAR of 90 or above. Every ATAR seeker achieved a score above their estimate, thanks in large part to their high achievement in the ACT Scaling Test (AST).

Just as importantly, MacKillop was able to present 179 VET Certificates and Statements of Attainment to the students of Year 12. These qualifications were achieved through our vocational learning programs, which aim to develop students’ skills and prepare them for apprenticeships, the workforce, or further training at CIT/TAFE.

The following is a summary of Year 12’s achievement:

  • 181 Year 12 students received an ATAR (67% of the Graduating Class)
  • The Dux of the College, Ari Gilchrist, achieved an ATAR of 99.65
  • 95% of ATAR seekers said they were ‘satisfied or ‘very satisfied’ with their result. None of our students said they were ‘dissatisfied’ with their score.
  • 100% of ATAR seekers received an ATAR above their predicted score.
  • 95% of ATAR seekers received an ATAR at least five points higher than their last estimate.
  • The AST results of the Class of 2023 were the second-highest in the College’s history
  • 38 students achieved an ATAR of 90 or above (21% of ATAR seekers)
  • 73 students achieved an ATAR of 80 or above (40% of ATAR seekers)
  • The College’s Median ATAR this year was 75.3
  • 52% of ATAR seekers received early offers to university (however, many students did not apply for early entry)
  • 87 students received a full VET qualification (Certificate I, II or III)
  • 92 VET Statements of Attainment were presented to Year 12 students

In his announcement of our Year 12 results through the College Newsletter, our Acting Principal, Mr Lachlan McNicol, praised the efforts of each student in the Graduating Class.

“These results are first and foremost a credit to the students and the work ethic that they have shown over recent months, particularly when many students had received early offers to university at the start of September,” he said.

“The success that our students have experienced also reflects the teaching and learning that they have experienced across Years 7 to 12. For that I acknowledge the contribution made by the teaching staff that have made a difference to the Class of 2023.”

Congratulations, Year 12!
