Year 7 elect SRC

Year 7 have made a great start to secondary school and concluded their first term with a focus on building community and leadership skills, inspired by the story of St Mary MacKillop.

The main event for this was the Year 7 Community Day on 22 March. Year 7 Community Day kicked off in the theatrette with a theatre performance on the life of St Mary MacKillop. The year group then split into House groups to participate in four fun and challenging activities. At the end of the day, Year 7 joined back together to discuss the qualities of a great leader, and have a conversation about joining the Student Representative Council for 2017.

Year 7 students then engaged in a process to elect a member of the Student Representative Council for each House, discussing the qualities of a good leader. Congratulations to all students who put their names forward for nomination.

The elected Year 7 student representatives were announced on the final day of Term 1 and were inducted into the SRC and presented with their leadership badges at the special Try MacKillop Day assembly in Week 2 of Term 2.

Congratulations to the elected student leaders in Year 7 for each House:
Mindygari – Clare Levings
Gurabang – Jonathon Silver
Meup Meup – Neika Henson
Ngadyung – Amy Scott

Acknowledgement of Country

St Mary of the Cross MacKillop made the statement: “We are but travellers here, so while we are here we should do as much good as we can and live in peace with each other.”

With this in mind, the College respectfully acknowledges the Ngunnawal people who are the Traditional Custodians and First People of the land on which we gather each day. The College also pays its respects to the Elders past, present and emerging, and any other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples living and working in the MacKillop community.
