MacKillop’s Year 8 Da Vinci Decathlon team has taken out the ACT Region competition and will represent the ACT at the National Finals in September.
The Da Vinci Decathlon is an academic competition designed to challenge and stimulate the minds of school students. Students compete across 10 disciplines: engineering, mathematics, code breaking, art and poetry, science, English, ideation, creative producers, cartography and legacy.
The ACT Region competition was held at Canberra Grammar School in Week 3 of Term 2.
The Year 8 team won several disciplines on its way to finishing as the overall winner, while the Year 7 team achieved to place 1st in the Engineering category. The Year 9 team also performed strongly.
We congratulate all three teams and wish our Year 8s the best of luck at Nationals.

St Mary of the Cross MacKillop made the statement: “We are but travellers here, so while we are here we should do as much good as we can and live in peace with each other.”
With this in mind, the College respectfully acknowledges the Ngunnawal people who are the Traditional Custodians and First People of the land on which we gather each day. The College also pays its respects to the Elders past, present and emerging, and any other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples living and working in the MacKillop community.
