The Year 12 Formal

Celebrating the Class of 2023

Year 12 students celebrated the end of their MacKillop journey with the Graduation Ceremony and Formal Dinner on Friday 1 December.

The setting for Year 12’s big evening was the National Convention Centre, which was last used by the College for the Graduation for the Class of 2013.

The even began with families and friends watching on as Year 12 arrived in style, walked the College’s special blue carpet, and posed for photos.

The Graduation Ceremony commenced at 7pm, during which the members of the Class of 2023 were presented with their Graduation Certificates and Portfolios. The names of our Perpetual Award recipients were also announced.

After the formal proceedings, students sat down for a three-course meal before hitting the dance floor to share their final moments together as a year group. There were some special moments at the end of the night, with all of Year 12 dancing to the Cha Cha Slide and Year Coordinator Charles Bootes leading the cohort in the singing of Oceans.

To Year 12, we hope your Formal was a night you’ll remember for years to come. Congratulations on reaching the end of your high school journey!

Acknowledgement of Country

St Mary of the Cross MacKillop made the statement: “We are but travellers here, so while we are here we should do as much good as we can and live in peace with each other.”

With this in mind, the College respectfully acknowledges the Ngunnawal people who are the Traditional Custodians and First People of the land on which we gather each day. The College also pays its respects to the Elders past, present and emerging, and any other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples living and working in the MacKillop community.
