Captains elected for 2022

St Mary MacKillop College is excited to announce its 2022 College and Portfolio Captains following an election on 15 September.

Congratulations to the successful candidates:

  • College Captains: Madison Arnold & Rohan McDonough
  • Faith & Community: Neika Henson
  • Performing Arts: Maddison Cameron & Vuni-John Kamilo
  • Sport: Ebony Brunt
  • Sustainability: Emily Rasheed
  • Communications & Connections: Josh Haynes

The standard of candidates was extremely high, with a total of 26 students putting themselves forward for the seven positions on offer. These students went through the process of a written application and interview with the College Executive before they delivered speeches to their peers and teachers via a Canvas Conference in Week 10 of Term 3.

The results in each category were extremely close, with several positions going down to final preferences before a winner could be decided.

For the first time in College history, two applicants nominated for a position as a pair. In 2022, Maddison Cameron and Vuni-John Kamilo will be the first duo to hold a Portfolio role together after they won the election for Performing Arts Captain.

Congratulations to all candidates, particularly the eight students who were successful in gaining a leadership role. The College will be in safe and capable hands in 2022!

Acknowledgement of Country

St Mary of the Cross MacKillop made the statement: “We are but travellers here, so while we are here we should do as much good as we can and live in peace with each other.”

With this in mind, the College respectfully acknowledges the Ngunnawal people who are the Traditional Custodians and First People of the land on which we gather each day. The College also pays its respects to the Elders past, present and emerging, and any other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples living and working in the MacKillop community.
