Year 7 students have returned from Camp, with two groups each spending two nights at the Salvation Army’s Collaroy Centre in Sydney this week.
Mindygari and Meup Meup students set out for Year 7 Camp on Monday 19 June, followed by Gurabang and Ngadyung students on Wednesday 21 June.
With the first semester of high school nearly complete, it was a great time to enjoy the company of old and new friends and to further broaden this circle. The Collaroy Centre Sydney is an idyllic spot to spend a few days and the milder Sydney weather made for a great escape.
The camp consisted of challenging activities that relied on teamwork and trust and the sense of camaraderie was evident. There was ample time to spend with friends enjoying the grounds and in large groups to share meals, night activities and liturgies.
The College congratulates Year 7 on their enthusiasm, cooperation, and willingness to get involved.
St Mary of the Cross MacKillop made the statement: “We are but travellers here, so while we are here we should do as much good as we can and live in peace with each other.”
With this in mind, the College respectfully acknowledges the Ngunnawal people who are the Traditional Custodians and First People of the land on which we gather each day. The College also pays its respects to the Elders past, present and emerging, and any other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples living and working in the MacKillop community.
