MacKillop kicked off its 2024 Project Compassion fundraising campaign as the season of Lent commenced on Ash Wednesday.
Project Compassion spans across the six weeks of Lent each year and is the main fundraising activity for Caritas Australia. It seeks to raise funds for people living in some of the most vulnerable communities across the world.
The theme of Project Compassion is ‘For All Future Generations’, which reminds us that the good that we do today will extend and impact the lives of generations to come.
MacKillop has been a great contributor to the cause in recent years, with our students and staff having raised well over $100,000 over the past decade. Last year, the College raised $10,446 and the College is aiming to beat that total for the 2024 Project Compassion campaign.
Students and families can donate through Pastoral Care Classes or at various College events throughout Lent.
St Mary of the Cross MacKillop made the statement: “We are but travellers here, so while we are here we should do as much good as we can and live in peace with each other.”
With this in mind, the College respectfully acknowledges the Ngunnawal people who are the Traditional Custodians and First People of the land on which we gather each day. The College also pays its respects to the Elders past, present and emerging, and any other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples living and working in the MacKillop community.
